Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Background The excess mortality in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) patients is mainly attributed to the occurrence sudden cardiac death (SCD). prediction ventricular arrhythmias remains challenging and could be improved. Purpose This study evaluated added predictive value a machine learning-based model combining clinical conventional imaging parameters with information from left strain analysis predict SCD HCM. Methods A total 434 HCM (65% men, mean age 56 years) were retrospectively included two referral centers different countries followed longitudinally (mean duration 6 years). Strain automatically extracted ventricle longitudinal segmental curves each patient Ridge Regression alongside data. composite endpoint sustained tachycardia, appropriate implantable cardioverter defibrillator therapy, aborted arrest, or death. Results 34 (7.8%) met an incidence 0.9%/years. Among 18 most discriminating parameters, 7 derived (figure 1). After n=200 rounds cross-validation, final showed superior performance compared models area under curve (AUC) 0.83 ± 0.8 AUC 0.56 0.61 for 2014 ESC risk score 2020 AHA/ACC model, respectively. Conclusion learning including strain-derived was existing models. improve stratification patients.

Sudden death in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with normal left ventricular mass.

An active, healthy, and symptom free 16 year old boy with a family history of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy died suddenly while walking home from school. Necropsy showed absence of left ventricular hypertrophy (that is, normal heart weight), though the characteristic histological abnormalities of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, such as cardiac muscle cell disorganisation and abnormal intramural coro...

Sudden cardiac death risk in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

It is well recognized that sudden cardiac death (SCD) is an infrequent, unpredictable, but catastrophic complication of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). In population-based studies the overall SCD rate is 1% per year among patients with a clinical diagnosis of HCM. A crucial aspect of the management of patients with HCM is an assessment of each individual patient’s risk for SCD so that preven...

Sudden cardiac death in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Introduction Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a common disorder of cardiac muscle associated with sudden cardiac death (SCD). HCM is defined by increased left ventricular wall thickness or mass, in the absence of abnormal loading conditions to account for the observed abnormality. In most adults, the disease is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait and is caused by mutations in cardiac s...

A novel clinical risk prediction model for sudden cardiac death in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM risk-SCD).

AIMS Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a leading cause of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in young adults. Current risk algorithms provide only a crude estimate of risk and fail to account for the different effect size of individual risk factors. The aim of this study was to develop and validate a new SCD risk prediction model that provides individualized risk estimates. METHODS AND RESULTS The...

Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in a Case with Chest Pain and Family History of Sudden Cardiac Death: A Case Report

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common genetic cardiovascular disease, which is caused by a multitude of mutations in genes encoding proteins of the cardiac sarcomere (1). Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (AHCM) is an uncommon type of HCM. The sudden cardiac death is less likely to occur in the patients inflicted with AHCM (2). Herein, we presented the case of a 29-year-old man ...
